Planting Fields in Oyster Bay, NY is a dynamic former Gold Coast estate—now a public site of Olmsted Brothers–designed landscapes, historic structures, and art/horticultural collections—welcoming 200,000+ visitors annually for festivals, concerts, exhibitions, tours, and school programs under the stewardship of Planting Fields Foundation (est. 1952) in partnership with NYS Parks. Established by William Robertson Coe and Mai Rogers Coe beginning in 1913, it remains one of Long Island’s few intact estates, centered on a 65-room Tudor Revival Main House by Walker & Gillette amid 409 acres of gardens, greenhouses, and woodland paths, renowned for craftsmanship (Samuel Yellin ironwork; murals by Robert Winthrop Chanler and Everett Shinn) and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1979.
